Most people believe that Jesus was a man who walked and lived on Earth just as we have. It’s believing that He is God’s Son that is the hard part for some.
Why is it even important to believe that Jesus is God’s Son?
Well, quite frankly, He is the go-between for us and God. There is no way for us to get to God without accepting God’s Son. Mainly because, we are full of sin. That is something no one can argue with. Jesus was the perfect, without spot or blemish scapegoat. He took all our sins and covered us so that we could go before a Holy God.
Matthew 11:27 says, “All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.” (Jesus speaking)
So many times people say, “I believe in God?” But which god is it that you are speaking? Because if you don’t know Jesus, then I doubt you really know God at all.
When I was young, I thought that God was this angry guy sitting up in the cloud with lightning bolts in His hands ready to throw them at anyone who sinned. However, when I began studying who Jesus is I learned that Jesus is all about love. God is all about love too, of course, but I didn’t know that until I really began to understand who Jesus was and what it was He stood for.
I John 4:14-16: “And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.”
I urge you today, stop believing what people say about God and Jesus. You’re smart and educated, read for yourself. Dust of that Bible or pick one up at the library. Ask me and I’ll get you one! Start with the book of Matthew and let the history of Jesus fill your minds and let His message of hope and peace fill your hearts and soon you will see that God is very much love with His children.
1 John 4:8
“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
